Te Haerenga
A self-guided 3hour walk to what the locals call Te Tau Mata. Known for its beauty and tranquillity, enjoy the peaceful surroundings we have dedicated to health and well-being.
This walk takes you to the site of the longest placename and back. The route passes through farmland, with clear signage and points of interest.
Please note:
You will need to open and close gates, and cattle may be present along the way.
A good level of fitness is required, and we recommend you wear good footwear, dress warm and take water.

7 days a week, weather permitting.

Discover the history and cultural significance behind the world’s longest place name. Your journey begins at the car park, where you’ll receive a warm welcome and have the opportunity to take a photo with the famous Longest Placename sign—an unforgettable souvenir of your visit.
From there, we invite you to The Woolshed, where you’ll enjoy morning tea and learn about the origins and stories connected to this amazing location.
