A 5km self-guided walk leading to Te Taumata, a wahi tapu, a site of cultural and historical significance. Approximately 1.5 hours from the carpark, the walk is a safe journey to reflect and take in the surrounding environment. Overall walk time 3 hours.

Discover the history and cultural significance behind the world’s longest place name. Your journey begins at the car park, where you’ll receive a warm welcome and have a photo with the famous Longest Placename sign, an unforgettable souvenir of your visit.

From there, we invite you to The Woolshed, where you’ll enjoy morning tea and learn about the origins and stories connected to this amazing location.
